Season 27 Playoff Battle

2012-05-14

Playoffs thus far have been interesting, New York has a 3-1 advantage over the Seattle Bears who were expected to take down the Americans fairly easily. Although, it makes some writers question why because with the additions that New York gained at the trade deadline it could have easily put them ahead of Seattle in terms of talent and experience. Although Cal G is a favorite to win the Tretiak, he has yet to find consistency in his game & Benjamin Glover has the experience and talent to steal a series away from a high octane offense like the Bears. Who do we think is going to win this series? New York, there is little chance that Gifford can outplay Glover for 3 straight games to complete the comeback.

On the other side of the globe in the European Conference, things are tied between Riga and Helsinki locked at 2 games a piece. Another unexpected result thus far due to Helsinki's trade deadline additions in Nick Fisher, JoHwo, & Jeff Dar. This quickly propelled Helsinki above Riga and made them the favorites to quickly wipe the floor with a Riga franchise that is currently going through both problems in the locker room & being outmatched on paper as well. Game 5 is tonight back in Helsinki and will likely be the turning point of the series, both teams will have to work for every inch on the ice tonight. Will Riga pull off an upset or will Helsinki win as expected? We think Helsinki wins this series in 7 with Andreas Bjorkman stealing Game 6 back in Riga.
