Snijider Comments on Struggles; Amongst Other Things

It was a different season than what Ansgar Snijider is normally used to, a blockbuster offseason trade away from Riga; the club that selected him first overall. After the move, Davos GM Tyler Barabash informed Snijider that he was going to be the superstar forward on the team as he expected. The trade didn't phase Ansgar's training resumé, he continued his weekly training habits and continued to move towards becoming one of the best players in the league. With the type of time Snijider has put in, he believed he was finally put in the perfect situation to succeed; unfortunately things don't always work out that way.

Snijider struggled this season compared to his previous years in a Reign uniform, posting 89 points & 43 goals. Nearly 10 goals & 20 points less than his Season 27 statistics, certainly a disappointment for not only himself but Davos fans. Despite his struggles, Snijider continued to preserve and would be training every week. We got a few comments on how his struggles took a toll on him mentally, especially after being moved for a huge package in the offseason.

Quote from: Ansgar Snijider
Yeah, this year was tough for me individually obviously, but honestly with how much team success we had it didn't even phase me during the season. Everyone in the locker room supported me and it was easy to go into practice everyday and keep working. With me being an LA Kings prospect, I've trained with Mike Richards before and he always told me that if it's not going in, than you aren't working hard enough. I took that to heart and I go into practice everyday with the intention of becoming a better player. I really think next year will be a special one for me, I want the fans to Davos to embrace me like they did in Riga.

Snijider & Braun Had Their Differences in Riga, but have embraced each other in Davos.

Although they had their differences playing for the Reign in Season 27, Ansgar Snijider & Kasey Braun both found themselves playing for the Dynamo in Season 28 and with no complaints all season. Because of the lack of tension due to both players wanting to be good leaders for the young players on Davos, it led to the 2 players finding chemistry together on the 1st line together. Braun and Snijider have now played on 3 different teams together in Riga, Davos, & Team Europe in the World Cup. With such 2 fantastic players just entering their prime together, they could do a lot of damage. With Braun possibly opting out to enter free agency, it has been a difficult few days for Snijider; knowing that Braun is the most important piece of the Dynamo defense. We got a few comments from Snijider on Braun and his possible free agency exploration.

Quote from: Ansgar Snijider
Kasey has a very strong personality, and often he collides with players; it happens you can't blame the guy. Unfortunately we had a young guy in the locker room sort of call him out and it really hurt him, I didn't know the whole story and I kind of called both of the guys out. I didn't have the right to do so, because i wasn't involved.. But I really enjoy the team I'm on and didn't want any problems to arise in the locker room, I apologized to both of the guys. I really don't want to see Braun enter free agency because we are just getting started here, and I would like to win a Championship with these guys.
